I can’t imagine the pain of hearing that from a father. But I definitely feel my own shortcomings as a father. I used to think if I tried hard enough I’d be the best dad in the whole world. But then reality sunk in and I realized that I will hurt my kids in one way or another.

There’s only one perfect Father.

Thanks for opening up your heart.I totally can track with you. Way too often I hold on to the glitzy things that seem to make me seem important, when the truth is that it is all just chasing after the wind.
The funny thing is that I can be doing the exact same task – with an attitude of people-pleasing it is chasing after the wind, but with an attitude of obedience and peace it is not.

I love being a dad! I don’t swing my 16-year old or 14-year old in my arms like I used to. Probably because they’re both bigger than I am now. Thankfully I still have a 10 and 6 year old I can swing.

Enjoy them every moment you have them. Don’t give in to the frustration or anger or any other emotion that comes with fatherhood because in a blink of an eye, they’ll be gone. I actually had a guy I didn’t know come up to me in a YMCA locker room and start crying as he talked about missed opportunities with his now-grown kids.
