My Advantage

September 19th, 2013

Hello and Welcome to another very late episode of The Thursday Blog.

What in the world has happened in the last 9 months. Well everything. One could say I have been going through a season of growth, of challenge, of more growth and more challenge and just for fun some extra challenge has been thrown in for good measure. Why don’t we chat about it in today’s episode called:

‘My Advantage’

What a year it has been. The challenges have come from far and wide. We had some health challenges with my own family with My Little Princess having her gallbladder removed. Some more health challenges in my family with my brother and sister being really unwell, and also in My Princess’ family as her mother donated a kidney to her 18 year old brother who had renal failure.

I have had challenges at work as I got a promotion but for about a month I had to manage two branches with my old branch going through staffing issues. The new job is great but it is filled with challenges.

We have had challenges in our finances as we want to honour God with our giving and stewardship as well as believe for God’s best for us. We have had challenges with our volunteering as we have increased our involvement on the weekend. And we have had challenges as My Princess has returned to work part-time as a paediatric nurse on shifts that include saturdays and overnights shifts.

And now we are looking down the barrel of…… you guessed it, more challenges. My work is getting harder as again I am covering two jobs for the next month, we are waiting to start a connect group, we have some big faith goals in our finances etc etc etc. But here is the really cool thing about it and the best part about how gracious God is. He has done two things for me.

1. He has prepared me.
At the start of the year I felt like God spoke to me and let me know that this was a year of sowing. Reaping would come later but the sowing part would be hard, tiresome and painful but there will be a great harvest that will come. I knew this was coming so as hard as the year has been I wasn’t surprised, in fact I was ready.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

2. He has giving me perspective.
I was sitting down today thinking about the adventure we have before us and I wasn’t scared, tired, worn out, or over it. I was full of joy. The joy isn’t because of the work but rather for who I get to do it with – my Wife, my Kids, my Friends and my God. I really am looking forward to it.

Hebrews 12:2 “For the joy set before Him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

So thanks for reading and doing this journey with me. Talk to you next week.

Have Fun

Dan.
